"Dual Eligibles" proposal needs public input. Iowa Medicaid Enterprise is in the process of implementing a comprehensive approach aimed at integrating care and improving the population health of Medicare-Medicaid members. Please review the proposal that will focus on care coordination, focusing on the reduction of avoidable hospital readmissions and transitions from an inpatient stay to other settings. Comments can be forwarded to Marni Bussell at mbussel@dhs.state.ia.us Deadline for comments is May 16, 2012.

 

The next meeting of the Medical Assistance Advisory Council (MAAC) will be held May 16th at 1:00 at the New Historical Building, 3rd Floor West, Classrooms A & B, 600 E Locust St, Des Moines, IA 50319. The meeting agenda will be attached to the MAAC webpage.

 

New data is available on Medicaid hospital readmission rates at 30 days. Iowa readmission rates at 7.1% were below a sixteen-state average of 8.3%. This research is supported by the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ). Iowa is one of sixteen participating states. Dr. Jason Kessler, Iowa Medicaid's Medical Director and the Medical Services Unit at the IME support the research efforts.
