Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME) is the division of the Iowa Department of Human Services that administers the Medicaid program. This website will inform you about the IME, Provider resources and Member resources.

Providers are the dedicated health care providers that serve the health care needs of members of Iowas Medicaid program. The Provider web pages serve as the gateway for providers to access important tools, resources and announcements.

Members are the individuals who receive Medicaid to help pay for their medical and health care costs. The Member web pages serve as the gateway for members to gain access to important information such as how to apply and find a provider.

News & Announcements

HEALTHY IOWA PLAN SUMMARY: The draft Healthy Iowa Plan 1115 Waiver application is now available for public review and comment. Comments must be received by June 17, 2013. A summary of the plan was posted earlier. Four public hearings have been set, along with a formal notice.
Iowa Family Planning Renewal (April 5, 2013): In accordance with Affordable Care Act regulations for section 1115 demonstrations, the Department of Human Services (DHS) is posting notice of the following Application for Renewal of the Medicaid Demonstration called the Iowa Family Planning Network. The public is encouraged to review the application and the associated attachments (attachment 1)(attachment 2). Access also the schedule for Public Hearings for Renewal Application. Questions or comments concerning this notice on the proposed waiver renewal may be sent to jhenson@dhs.state.ia.us , or addressed to Jill Henson, Department of Human Services, 1305 E. Walnut Street, Des Moines, IA 50319-0114 for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of this notice. Comments received may be reviewed by the public by contacting Jill Henson at the above address.
Notice of Intent to Release RFP (February 21, 2013): The State of Iowa intends to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) in the coming months to competitively procure for the Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME), a new Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). This procurement will seek a new MMIS as well as operational services to support the completed system. Legislative Testimony: Medicaid Director Vermeer has provided testimony before the Iowa General Assembly on a variety of topics in recent weeks. You can link to her presentations about Medicaids State Innovation Model (SIM) grant application to consider establishment of an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) in Medicaid, testimony on Medicaid expansion, testimony on IowaCare, the Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa program known as hawk-i and a general update on Iowa Medicaid.
Fiscal One-on-One: Iowa Medicaid Director Jennifer Vermeer is featured in a Legislative Service Agency (LSA) audio interview series called Fiscal One-on-One. Vermeer talks with LSA analyst Jess Benson about the basics of Medicaid including who is eligible, how the program is operated and what drives expenditures.
Summary of Consultant Findings on Medicaid Expansion: A series of reports intended to support the public policy discussions of the Affordable Care Act implementation in Iowa are now available on the DHS website under Legislative Reports.
