Atypical Code Conversion Project
In accordance with direction from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME) is undertaking a project that will affect all service codes that begin with a "W". These codes are those codes currently used to bill waiver, case management, and targeted case management services to the IME. Effective for dates of service 10/1/12 or 7/1/13 (for cost report based codes) each "W" code will be converted to another standardized HCPCS or CPT code. This conversion will affect both the Individualized Services Information System and claims billed to the IME.
Later this year the IME will send additional information to all waiver providers, case managers, and targeted case managers describing the details how this project will be implemented.
